How to De-Stress in 10 easy steps

Have you had a bad day/week at work? Kids are driving you mad? Unpaid bills are piling up?
It’s never easy being stressed and it certainly isn’t easy trying to DE-stress when you have no idea how. So I’m going to give you my 10 easy steps on how to DE-stress. These steps help me, so hopefully, they will help you!

Step 1: Get out your journal and write down everything that’s stressing you out.
I know you’ve probably been told numerous of times that writing down everything that’s on your mind helps, and I 100% agree with that. I started writing in a journal when I was 17 years old. It helped me relax my mind when things got hard at school and to this day, I still write everything down when I’m on the verge of a breakdown, or better yet, a murderous spree (You can’t deny that you haven’t thought about lashing out on those who have pissed you off)
It doesn’t have to be a novel on your stress troubles, just take the words that you know you can’t say aloud and write them in your journal. It honestly helps.
If you don’t want to write, maybe just draw. It can be scribbles, an actual drawing, anything. This is your journal and what you put in it, doesn’t concern others.
Seriously, get yourself a journal.

Step 2: Once you have lashed out in your journal, look around you and whatever needs cleaning, clean it.
There’s nothing better than a clean house. And I think I can say for many people, a clean environment really helps relax the mind.
You’ve been meaning to clean your cupboard out for a long time? Take the time to go through it when you’re stressed. Throw out those old, frayed, unicorn shorts that you’ve hidden in the back of your cupboard. Those shoes you love so much but your dog chewed holes in them? Throw them in the bin.
Take the time to give your house a thorough clean and I promise your mood will transform.

Step 3: Get fresh air.
After all that cleaning, you will need fresh air. Put on your walking shoes and go for a nice stroll. Take your camera and capture pretty pictures. Go down to the lake and sit by the water. Go to your favourite cafe. Just get out of your house and enjoy the day and your surroundings. Getting fresh air is one of the best things to do when you’re stressed out.
Go grab your walking shoes and enjoy this gorgeous day.

Step 4: Run yourself a bath, light a nice smelling candle and grab your favourite book.
There is no rule in how early during the day you can have a bath. Honestly, whoever says you can’t have a nice relaxing bath at 1:00pm, probably doesn’t have a bath and is jealous.
After you have been for your walk, there’s nothing better than climbing into a nice, warm bath and reading your favourite book. This step is my favourite. It relaxes my mind so much and once I’m done in there, I feel all snugly and warm, my stress has been forgotten. (For now, at least)
Spend as much time as you want in there. Just relax.

Step 5: Make yourself some nice warm soup. Food, is always great for stress.
Sometimes. You don’t want to over eat when you’re stressed otherwise you will stress yourself out more because you have put on 5 kilo.
No, make yourself a nice, healthy, warm soup. Pumpkin soup is my favourite stress food. It warms me up and literally brings me comfort when I’m having a stressful day. If it’s a beautiful day/night, take your soup out onto the balcony/patio and enjoy the peaceful sounds of nature.

Step 6: Curl up on the couch with your pet and watch your favourite movie.
Whether it’s on Netflix or DVD, watching your favourite movie is always great when you’re under stress. It takes your mind off everything that’s bothering you and you can just lose yourself in the movie, wishing it was you kissing Channing Tatum. And let’s not forget that curling up with your pet is amazing as well. My cat always makes me feel better after a stressful day. And she loves laying on me when I’m watching a movie, so it’s a win-win situation.

Step 7: Make yourself a cup of tea.
What’s not good about tea? My personal favourite is Green Tea & Lemon. It always brightens my mood when I have a cup.
Put on the kettle, and make yourself a cup of your favorite tea.
If you’re not a tea drinker, a hot chocolate or coffee does wonders as well.

Step 8: Write down a list of things to achieve this week.
Doing this helps me keep organized, stress-free and happy. Simply because, I have already planned my week, I know what needs to be done and what needs to be paid by and I achieve everything I want to achieve. It doesn’t have to be about the bills or food shopping. If you want to attend the gym 4 days this week, make that an achievement to accomplish that week.

Step 9: Get into your most comfortable pj’s, light a candle in your room, grab a book and get into bed.
So you’ve spent the day DE-stressing yourself, now it’s time to wind down before bedtime.
You know those really ugly pj’s you love so much? Put them on. It’ll make you feel good.
Light your favourite scented candle, grab a book (Reading is always the best DE-stressing remedy) and hop into bed. Turn your mind off and lose yourself in a world far away from where you are.

Step 10: Sleep.
Lastly, go to sleep. Early if possible. Try and get at least 8 hours and your body and mind will be refreshed for the next day. Sleep is so important, and so many young people take it for granted. Close your eyes and forget about your worries til tomorrow.

These are the 10 steps I do when I am feeling stressed. You don’t have to do them in order and you don’t have to do every one of them.
I’m not saying this will help everyone, but if it helps at least one person, then I’m happy to share my way of DE-stressing myself.
There are millions of other ways you can DE-stress, but from my experience, these steps help me the best.

I hope you liked reading this post and if you give these steps a go, let me know if they helped you in the comments below!

Online Diary?

Hey guys,

So you’re probably looking at the title confused because well, who does online diary entry’s? Let me clear it all up for you.
I’m not actually going to do the whole ‘Dear Diary, today I blah, blah, blah’ because well, I’m not 12 anymore.
What this post is about, is that I am thinking of making my blog more personal and chatting with you guys, connecting with you and just sharing things with you.
Maybe I can tell you about my day in the city, or a really sad time in my life, etc.
I just want to connect with you guys more and let you in on some of my fun adventures I go on.
I’m going to start with one today, and if you liked reading it and would like me to continue with these posts, please let me know!

So remember when I said that I am going back vegetarian etc? Well, my best friend Jess and I have decided to get on the healthy kick and go walking (mind you, this walk is so long) every night, eat healthy and quit the smoking. Yes, I sometimes smoke and have been for a while. The walk we go on is along a river and guys, it’s gorgeous when the sun is setting.
Below is a photo I took last week when we went for a walk. Look how beautiful it is!

Highton River Walk Trail.

The walk takes about 1-2 hours, depends on how fast you walk and is along this river, where people canoe. I really hope the weather stays good so Jess and I can walk along it every day!

We both have also decided to stop sitting at home sulking on the weekend and dress up, get out and dance and drink until the early hours of the morning. We are both still so young and realized, we only get to live once so why not have fun? I mean, you can work AND have fun.
There will be more adventures to the city, shopping, coffee shop hunting, just fun things. I’m really excited about this change and it gets the whole cochlear implant stuff off my mind for a bit.

I think it’s great to set goals for yourself. It’s even more fun when you set them with your best friend. What’s more fun than sharing adventures, achievements and memories with your bestie?

So that sums up what these posts will be like. I will basically chat with you guys, tell you about my day/week, my goals that I have set, etc.
If you liked reading this, please let me know if you would like more posts like it!
Also, tell me about your goals that you have set for yourself! If you haven’t set any, grab your bestie and set some together.

Until next time –

What’s been going on with me

It’s been a hell of a week for me to be quite honest, and I want to share it all with you guys.
First off, I know I have been lacking in writing blogs the last few weeks, but I have had some stuff going on and it’s only fair if I tell you guys what’s been going on, and what’s going to happen.
I will also share my exciting news on how I have finally figured out what I want my career to be and the changes I will be making on my blog that will benefit my career and passions.

As some of you may know, I am deaf. I have hearing aids in both ears and I have had them since I was 8 years old. Hearing loss runs in my family, which means most of my family members on my Nan’s side of the family and my mum and little brother are also deaf. It’s something I have come to terms with over the years, that my hearing may not get better but on Friday, my world basically stopped spinning when I was told that I will need the cochlear implant in my left ear. It’s been a subject that has been brought up a couple of times since my hearing has been deteriorating quite quickly over the last few months, but it’s never something I thought about, because, I guess I had hope that there was something else they could do. It’s not like the world is going to end for me when I get it, but it’s extremely scary that I will be having a big operation – and surgeries scare the absolute hell out of me. As well as the long recovery after the surgery. It’s going to be a long process.
I am however, looking forward to being able to hear properly, so I suppose that’s a big plus.
Because of this, there will be fewer blogs happening due to having to travel to Melbourne for tests and a lot of appointments etc, but I will try my hardest to keep them frequent for you.

If you don’t know what the cochlear implant is, it’s a hearing device designed to bypass the damaged parts of the inner ear by electrically stimulating the hearing nerve. The nerve then sends a signal to the brain where it is interpreted as sound.

Cochlear implants provide an important option for children and adults with significant hearing loss who gain little or no benefit from hearing aids.

What does a cochlear implant look like?

A cochlear implant has both internal and external parts.

Internal part:

The internal part is put in place surgically under general anesthesia. It consists of:

  • A receiver and magnet, placed under the skin behind the ear
  • An electrode array (series of electrodes), placed in the cochlea.

External part

The external part is worn behind the ear. It consists of:

  • A sound processor powered by batteries (looks similar to a hearing aid)
  • A cable and circular coil connected to the sound processor that is held on the head by a magnet.

So that’s what a cochlear implant is, and if you are interested in learning more about it, just click this link and it’ll take you to a website explaining more about it.

I am extremely nervous about getting this, but at the same time grateful that this generation has more equipment and procedures that can help those in need.
I will definitely keep you guys updated on my progress once I get the implant.

While we are on the subject of health, I have decided to go back vegetarian and not eat processed foods anymore. I believe it’s so important to take care of your body as you only get to have one and nourish it with the right foods. I’m in no way saying everyone should go vegetarian/vegan, I myself will not be turning vegan due to various reasons and I know meat is just as important for your body, so please do not think I am saying that. I am going vegetarian for me and my health/body.
I will try to go for a 30-40 minute walk every morning and drink more water than I have been.
I’m really excited for a positive change!

Moving onto my career choice and blog change – guys I am so excited to share this with you!

It may have taken me til I was 23 to figure out what I wanted my career path to be and it may have been right in front of me the whole time, but if you’re still unsure of what you want to do with your life, don’t beat yourself up about it. Seriously, you’re still young (for those who are still young) and you WILL figure it out. Just be patient.

I want to be a writer. Whether it’s a magazine editor for my favourite magazine (dream job guys) or a freelance writer. Maybe even an author! I don’t know, but I want to pursue a career in writing! And with saying that, I will be changing my blog to just focusing on the writing aspect of it, which means I will no longer be doing makeup tutorials. I know you guys loved that, but I just don’t wear makeup enough these days, or even have the time to do a tutorial for you. And to be honest, it’s just not something I’m interested in. I absolutely love makeup and fashion, and will continue doing reviews for you, but the makeup tutorials will be stopping. I really hope you understand.

I will be focusing on lifestyle blogs – e.g:

  • Coffee shop crawls – Where I will go to a different coffee shop weekly or so, and share with you guys my weekly goals and why I want to achieve them, and I will also talk about how impressed or not impressed I am with the coffee at said coffee shop.
  • My opinions of topics that interest me, whether it be about celebrity gossip, new trends, etc.
  • Once a week, I may even write a blog about the books, music, TV Shows and movies I am currently loving and recommend.

Advice blogs such as, how you can DE-stress yourself, prepare yourself for a new job, if you’re at school – how you can get through the school year and deal with those mean girls that every school seem to have.
All of these will be based on my experience and sharing them with you will make me extremely happy.

These are just some of the blog ideas I have in mind, I have written down a ton more and really excited to start changing and writing about the things I enjoy!
There will also probably be less photos being provided, but if I do feel like providing photo’s for a certain blog, I will.

I really hope you all enjoy my new blog ideas and will continue to follow me even though there won’t be any more makeup tutorials.

Until next time –

Review: MAC Mineralize Skin Finish

Have you ever searched and searched for that perfect bronzer but just can’t seem to find one and then you are left feeling sad because you can’t give your face that amazing bronze glow you really want?
Yeah, same here. That was until I found my perfect bronzer.
Okay, so it’s not actually a ‘bronzer’, well I don’t think it is, but I use it as one and my goodness, it leaves me with that amazing bronze glow that I love! And a little bit of shimmer to make me feel glamorous.
The product I’m talking about, is the MAC Mineralize Skin Finish.
You may have heard of it before, probably in one of my recent makeup tutorials, and I am absolutely in love with it.
It retails for $47.00 AUD at Myer, or you can purchase it for $48.00 AUD on their website.

I got mine in the shade ‘cheeky bronze’ but there are 8 other shades you can get as well.
I will definitely go back to Myer and purchase the other shades once I have the money but for now, this product is my absolute holy grail in my makeup stash!

I have tested it out as a contour as well, which actually turned out amazing! I did have to build up the colour, but that was okay with me as I like to do that anyway to get the perfect depth of colour I’m aiming for.

apologies for the shitty photo – swatch of the MAC Mineralize Skin Finish.

As you can see from the swatch above, the shade isn’t to intense, but perfect for an everyday look or a night out/date night.
This is only 2 swipes of the colour, but if you keep building it up, it turns out to be an amazing contour/bronze shade all in one.

This would be absolutely perfect to use in the summer time when you don’t want to cake on makeup but want that lovely summer glow.
Or even on your wedding day, or a family/friends day out, when you don’t want to get all dressed up and looking like you tried too hard.

If you don’t have this product in your stash, you need to get it. It’s simply the best bronzing product I have owned and a must-have product!

  • Comes in 8 different shades you can choose from.
  • The colour isn’t to intense to wear for an everyday look.
  • Perfect for contouring and bronzing.
  • The packaging is small enough to travel with.
  • The colour is gorgeous.

  • The price is a bit on the expensive side, but it’s honestly worth it.

So there you have it. My honest review of the MAC Mineralize Skin Finish. This item is not sponsored at all, I bought it with my own money and all opinions are mine and 100% honest.

I do think you should definitely add this to your makeup stash if you have the money, or request it for a birthday/graduation/Christmas gift. If you already own this item, let me know what your thoughts are on it!

Until next time..

What did you want to do with your life at age 5?

I don’t know what I wanted to be at age 5, but I do know that age 7, I wanted to be an actor. I grew up watching a show (I can’t remember it now, sorry!) and I knew that I wanted to be an actor. It’s so disgusting thinking about it.

Is there a dessert you don’t like?

Not that I can think of!

What is the farthest you have been from home?

So that concludes my 73 Questions Tag! It took so long to do, but I enjoyed every minute of it!
I hope you enjoy reading and learning more about me. Feel free to do your own 73 questions tag, and if you do, let me know in the comments! I’d love to read your answers!

Becoming ‘That’ Girl

Warning: this post contains swearing.

You know those girls who have so much confidence, their attitude is bitchy and they think they own the place, while people stand on the side silently judging them but also silently praying to be them.
I’m becoming that girl. No, not the one standing on the side judging.. the one with the confidence and ‘I don’t give a fuck’ attitude. Yeah, I’m going to become a bitch.
Why? Let me tell you why.

Growing up, I was bullied, pushed around and used by friends, family and boyfriends.
I thought it would all stop once I hit my 20’s, but nope. I let people walk over me and I am done. I say no to things when I really want to say yes, I forgive everyone who treats me wrong and never stand up for myself. I have no confidence, I let my dreams be pushed to the side if someone doesn’t like it, I never make my own choices and rely on everyone to pick me up when I’ve fallen down. It’s time it’s stopped.

I’m not going to become one of those bad ass bitches who push everyone around and talks to people like they don’t exist. No. I’m going to become my own person, make my own choices, pick myself up when I’ve fallen down and have the confidence I’ve always wanted.
Yeah, I have stomach fat and thick thighs/arms, but if I like a piece of clothing and want to wear it, I will.
I’m not going to be pushed around anymore.
You know those friends who only want something from you when they need it but never make time for you when they don’t want something? Or they have a coffee with you that literally lasts 20 minutes and then they run off straight after and you don’t hear from them until maybe 2 weeks or even a month after? They never text you unless you text them first?
Yeah, I have a lot of those and I’m done. I am not just someone you can call up whenever you need something and then throw away when you have it.
No thanks.
I’m better than that and have dreams, a life where I want to succeed and I’m not letting anyone take that from me anymore.

Have you ever noticed that those really successful girls/women all have something that us ‘other’ women don’t have? No it’s not the fact they are successful, but it’s the whole attitude they have. They don’t let anyone push them around, they are their own boss and they made choices for themselves. They have confidence and I’m starting to realise that confidence has a big part in succeeding. I thrive for success. I have never been successful in anything in my life, always gave up when things got hard or quit because someone told me too. But the only thing I want right now, is to succeed in becoming good and making my way to the top, even if things get hard.
I am so determined to change my life around and become ‘that’ girl with the confidence, attitude and success.

I know what I want, and I am going to work my ass off everyday to get there.

Thankyou for reading my post. Don’t forget you can follow me on Instagram, Twitter, Tumblr and Pinterest.

Remember, be you. Work hard to get where you want to be and don’t let anyone push you around.

Until next time..
